SHELBY- Mrs. Lora “Mae” Johnson Cleary, 77, of 107 Perry Street died, Friday, November 28, 2008 at home. A native of Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late Murphy and Flora Rhodes Johnson. She was retired from PPG and Azdel and was of the Baptist faith. She was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother and loved the mountains and lighthouses.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Richard Dean Cleary, and son-in-law, Robert Carlton.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by two sons, Michael B. Cleary and wife, Michelle, of Bessemer City and Gary L. Cleary of Casar; four daughters, Brenda C. Hawkins and companion, Keith Bland, Libby C. Cox and husband, Michael and Peggy C. Carlton, all of Shelby, and Sherri Sentell and husband, William, of Waco; a step-son, Rodney Ross of Reidsville; two sisters, Grace J. Dumoulin and husband, Jack, of N. Wilkesboro and Mamie Spicer and husband, Ralph, of Cliffside; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and her faithful canine companion, “Pee Wee”.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
OFFICIATING CLERGY: The Revs. Johnny Owens and Wayne Holley will be officiating
