Luna Mode Powell

MOORESBORO- Mrs. Luna Mode Powell, 96, of 2305 Camp Creek Church Road, died Tuesday, April 07, 2009 at home. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late J. Tom and Mollie Ledford Mode. Mrs. Powell was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 60 years.

PRECEDED IN DEATH:. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Richard Vew Powell; son Eugene Powell; daughter Bula Mae Powell; eight brothers; and eight sisters.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by her son Worth and wife Muriel Powell of Mooresboro; two daughters Vollie Sue and husband George Dopkawski of Ocean City, MD, and Ruby Gearleen Earls of Shelby; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 8, from 6-7:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

SERVICE: A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 9, 2pm at Camps Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Powell will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow in Camps Creek Baptist Church Cemetery

CLERGY: The Revs. Dennis Hester and Robert Toney will be officiating.
