SHELBY-M.D. “Mousey” Cabaniss Jr., 81, died Friday, June 26, 2015, at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Beatrice White Cabaniss Sr. He retired after 38 years, as a lineman with Southern Bell, and later worked for Lowes for 15 years. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church. M.D. loved to talk and share with others, and had a love for collecting and selling “merchandise” as he would call it. You could often find M.D. in one of his favorite two stores, U.A. Thrift and Goodwill. M.D. was a life member of Shelby Rescue.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tony Cabaniss; and brother, Robert Cabaniss.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joann Camp Cabaniss, of the home; his loving daughters, Kim Fitts and husband Jim of Gainesville, GA, and Jan Jenks and husband Dean of Shelby; grandchildren, Mary Ann Fitts of Gainesville, GA, Russ Fitts of Charlotte, Jana Jenks and Jessalyn Jenks, both of Shelby.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Monday, 3pm, at Zion Baptist Church
VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church
BURIAL: will follow in the church cemetery
