SHELBY- Mable Shepherd, aged 82, peacefully passed away on February 10, 2025, in Cleveland County, North Carolina. Born on March 4, 1942, in Rutherford County, North Carolina, Mable lived a life filled with love, creativity, and devotion.
Mable will be remembered for her passion for quilting, a craft she embraced wholeheartedly. Her beautiful quilts were cherished by family and friends alike, each one woven with care and artistry. Her love for jewelry further showcased her creative spirit and eye for beauty. Mable treasured time with her family, making memories that are now held dear by those she leaves behind. Her annual trips to quilting shows, especially the renowned gathering in Paducah, Kentucky, were highlights of her calendar year, combining her love for travel and quilting.
A devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, Mable's faith was a central part of her life. Her presence at church services and events contributed to her community in profound ways, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her.
Mable is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Max and Grace Padgett Devine, and her siblings, Phillip Devine, Martha Devine, and Muriel Grigg. Her legacy continues in the lives of her surviving family: sons, Frank Shepherd and his wife Kristy of Spartanburg, SC, and Scott Shepherd of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Shelia Hall and her husband JR of Shelby; sisters, Peggy Howell of Shelby, Dorothy Tesseneer and her husband Kenneth of Rock Hill, SC, Vickie Jackson of Shelby, Vallery McCoy and her husband Tommy of Shelby, and Pamela Devine of Shelby. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Grace Shepherd, Ricky Hall, Brad Hall, and Mary Austin; great-grandchildren, Brendon, Kayli, Will, Eli, Molly, and Lily; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mable Shepherd will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Sims officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Life Enrichment Center of Shelby.
