Margaret Deaton

September 19, 1920 — January 3, 2010

SHELBY- Mrs. Margaret H. Kennedy Deaton, 89, of Shelby, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Care Center in Andrews. A native of York County, she was the daughter of the late Avery Cornelius and Emma Dominey Hudson. She retired from the textile industry after about 50 years with the Ella, Shelby, and Dover Mills. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Buren Kennedy; her second husband Glenn Reed Deaton; two brothers Palmer and Gene Hudson; two sisters Marie Hudson Wilson and Elma Dycus Hammond; and a younger childhood sister and brother, Geneva and Howard Hudson.

SURVIVED: She is survived by a son, John Buren Kennedy and wife Linda of Andrews; two grandchildren, Kimberly Aylene Kennedy, of Concord, Kris Kennedy Rigsbee and husband Alan “Boo” ; and one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Kennedy Rigsbee all of Durham.


VISITATION: The family will receive friends Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 1-2pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

COMMITAL: A committal service will be held, 2pm, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

BURIAL: A Private family burial will immediately follow.

MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 606 South Dekalb Street Shelby, 28150 or The Life Enrichment Center, 103 TR Harris Drive, Shelby, 28150.

CLERGY: Dr. Tim Sims will be officiating.
