Margaret Fowler Ellis

With great sadness the family of Margaret Fowler Ellis announces her passing on December 7th at the age of 95 at her home in Mobile, AL. Margaret was a resident of Shelby, NC until age 80, at which time she moved to be close to family. She was the wife of the late Herbert H. Ellis, whom she married on April 26, 1941. They remained married until his passing on October 20, 1988. They were long-time members of Eastside Baptist Church. Sis, as she was known to family and friends, is survived by daughter Becky Jones and her husband Glenn Jones of Mobile, AL, and son Danny Ellis and his wife Anne Ellis of Charlotte, NC. Sis was the beloved Nanny to her grandchildren: Scott Anderson, Chrysta Dickens, Lindsey Blankenship, and Dana Stuart. Sis was also the proud great-grandmother to Anne Bailey Grant, Forrest Anderson, Gracen Dickens, Brittany Anderson, Molly Blankenship, and Brandon Blankenship. Sis was a loyal employee of the Dover Mill Company from a young age until she retired at 72. She blessed those around her with her positive energy and spirit. Sis’s greatest pride was in taking care of her immediate and extended family and will be missed by all. A special thank you to Dr. Frank Hall, Shellie Dinkins, and Wendy Dukes for taking care of our beloved Nanny during her final days. Visitation will be Friday at 1:00PM at Clay Barnette Funeral Home in Shelby with the service to follow at 2:00PM.
