SHELBY – Mrs. Margaret Alexander Porter, 92, went to be with her Lord, Feb. 7, 2013 at Givens Health Center of Asheville. A native of Robeson County, she was the daughter of the late James Forrest and Lula Spivey Alexander. Mrs. Porter was a member of Central U.M.C. and was a former district officer of W.S.C.S. (U.M. Women). She was a Pink Lady volunteer at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, and was a hospice volunteer for 15 years. She was an avid Bridge player, and was affectionately known as “MaMoo” to her great-granddaughter.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul B. Porter; three brothers, Douglas, J.F. Jr., and Rev. Hoyle Alexander; and sister Cleo Dean.
SURVIVED: She is survived by her loving daughter, Ellen Porter Warlick of Boiling Springs; sister, Dorothy Vickers of Winchester, VA.; grandson, Tanner Warlick and wife Christine of Danville, KY; and great-granddaughter, Lula Warlick; and numerous nieces and nephews survive.
LIE-IN-STATE: Mrs. Porter will lie-in-state for friends to view from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Saturday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. The family will not be present during that time.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be Sunday, 2PM, at Central United Methodist Church
VISTATION: The family will receive friend following the service, at the church, in the Porter Activity Center.

BURIAL: A private burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park
