SHELBY: Mrs. Margaret Wofford Brown, 84, of 937 W. Warren St., died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
FUNERAL: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Dover Baptist Church; the body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
BURIAL: Cleveland Memorial Park
VISITATION: 6:00 until 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2006 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.
PERSONAL HISTORY: Born in Spartanburg County, SC to the late Grover Cleveland and Mary Turner Wofford, she was retired from Dover Textiles. Margaret was a member of Dover Baptist Church since 1953, where she was a member of the Esther Sunday School Class and a former Sunday School teacher for 25 years. She was a talented cook who was known for her canning, cooking and coconut cakes. Margaret was a kind –hearted, giving person who treasured life and family. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Wofford and G.C. Wofford, and a sister, Annie Dee Becknell.
SURVIVORS: Husband of 66 years, Claude L. Brown Sr. of the home; two sons, C.L. Brown and wife, Betty, of Shelby, and Drs. Milton and Lou Ann Brown, of Decatur, GA; four sisters, Pearl Calvert of Campobello, SC, Beulah Howard of Augusta, GA, Arnetta Herrington and husband, Jimmy, of Durham, and Carrie Ponder of Martinez, GA; a brother, Paul Earl Wofford of Landrum, SC; four grandchildren, LaDonna Dedmond and husband, Don, of Lawndale, Sharon Hendrick and husband, Joel of Shelby, Meredith Brown and Tyler Brown, both of Decatur, GA; four great grandchildren, Kasey Green, Leigh Ann Green, Brett Hendrick and Chase Hendrick.
