Margie Griffin

October 12, 1922 — May 31, 2014

SHELBY-Margie Matthew Griffin, 91, went to be with her Lord, Sat., May 31, 2014, at her home. A native of Inman, SC, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Estelle Flynn Matthew. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, an avid reader, and a caregiver to all.


PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Clingman Griffin; daughters, Mary Brown, Brenda Wilson, Betty Jo Griffin; sons, Marshall and John Griff in; brothers, Clyde, Andrew, and Grady Matthew; sister, Viola Henderson; and grandchildren, Buster Griffin Jr. and Kristie Hope Griffin.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her two sons, LeRoy Griffin and wife Joyce, and Buster Griffin and wife Ann; daughters, Jane White and Linda Price and husband Sam, all of Shelby, and Wanda Smith of Bostic; 28 grandchildren; and over 200 great, and great-great grandchildren.

SERVICES: Tuesday, 4PM, at Faith Baptist Church

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Monday, 6-7:30PM, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at the home.

BURIAL: Faith Baptist Church Cemetery

CLERGY: Dr. J. Barry Goodman and Revs. Johnny Owens and Billy Boone
