SHELBY- Marie Morton Edwards, 80, died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Carolinas Healthcare System-Cleveland. A native of Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late George Dewey and Bessie Burns Morton. She was a charter member of Landmark Baptist Church. Marie worked in her early years at Cetwick and Black and Decker, later joining her husband, Bob, as a long distance truck driver, traveling the United States. They were former owners of Southern Air Mobile Home Park. Marie loved trips to the beach, motorhome travel, 50’s music, and her k-9 pets. She will be remembered as a lady with a loving and giving heart, delighted to help others. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Elco and Odell Morton; and sister, Beatrice Hammett.
SURVIVED: She is survived by her love of her life for 40 years, Robert “Bob” Edwards, of the home; daughters, Brenda Johnson and husband E.J., Candy Allen and husband Ronnie, all of Asheboro; adopted daughter, Kerstin Lemke and Ralf of Germany; son, Terry Davis of Asheboro; adopted son, Steven Edwards of Shelby; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 11:30 am, Tuesday, at Landmark Baptist Church
VISITATION: The family will receive friends 10-11:30 am, Tuesday, at the church
BURIAL: Salisbury National Cemetery
