SHELBY- Mrs. Martha Hood Cox, 59, departed this life Friday, Dec. 4th , 2009, at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Hinds County, Miss, she was the daughter of the late Elton Hood and Audria Easterling Hood of Columbus, Miss. Martha has been a longtime employee of Cleveland Lumber Co. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a active member of the Gideons International Auxillary
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her father, she was preceded by her mother in law, Rilene Holtzclaw.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her loving husband; James E. Cox Jr. of the home; son, Joseph Lambert; daughter, Julie Brooks and husband Robert all of Brandon, Miss.; brother, Dr. Stephen Hood and wife Rebecca of Memphis, TN; 4 grandchildren, Gracie-May Lambert, Loren, Cameron, and Leland Brooks all of Brandon, Miss.; brother in law, Charlie K. Holtzclaw and wife Donna of Lawndale; and her beloved canine companions, Beaudreaux, Chopper, and Pookie.
SERVICE: Graveside services will be held Sunday, Dec. 6th at 3:30pm in Sunset Cemetery.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 6th from 1:30-3:00pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
CLERGY: Rev. David Rabb will be officiating
