BOILING SPRINGS- Mr. Marvin Wayne Thomas, 65, of 100 Highland Pines Dr., died Monday, June 30, 2008 at Hospice of Cleveland County. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Mary Lou Thomas. He was a Vietnam Era veteran serving in the Marines. He was a retired truck driver of 28 years who drove for Arkansas Best Freight formerly Carolina Freight. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and attended and worshiped at Springmore Baptist Church. He loved to spend time with his family and loved to work in the yard. He was an avid golfer and played mostly at the City Park.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Thomas, and a sister Catherine Greene.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Betty Cook Thomas, of the home; a son, Mark Thomas and wife Sherry of Shelby, a daughter Karen J. Smith and husband Louis of Nashville, NC, two sisters Betty Warunek of Shelby, and Wilma Leming and husband Larry of GA, a brother Charles Thomas and wife Angie of Shelby, and three grandchildren; Tiffany Elizabeth Jackson, Donnie Nichole Jackson, and Alexandrea Paige Thomas.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 tonight (7/1) at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home
HEADQUARTERS: and at other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be held at Wednesday (7/2) , 11:00am, in Clay-Barnette Chapel
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Chad Jones will be officiating
