Mary Jo Blanton

SHELBY: Mary Jo Kendrick Crawford Blanton, 82, was born in Cleveland County to Yates and Selena (Lowery) Kendrick. She had a happy, busy childhood growing up on a farm, attending and graduating from No. 3 High School and Gardner Webb Jr. College. She worked for Woodmen of the World Insurance Company and later became a CNA taking care of the elderly. She was married to the late Robert Reid Crawford, Sr. for 39 years. In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Kendrick, Mayme Gantt and Ann Lane. She is survived by their two children, Robert Crawford, Jr and wife Sherry of Shelby and Rebecca Crawford Hare and husband Christopher of Charlotte; her sister Sophia Goforth of Shelby; four grandchildren, Lauren Davis and husband Brandon of Shelby, Sara Nixon and husband Barry of Shelby, Alexander Hare and Christian Hare of Charlotte; and three great grandchildren, Madison Davis, Braxton Strange and Ayden Davis. Later in life she was married the late J. B. Blanton of Polkville, for seven years. She is survived by her four stepchildren, all of Polkville, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mary Jo will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, February 17, 2022 at First Baptist Church Webb Chapel, with the Revs. Tony Tench and Dale Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, in the Webb Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
