MOORESBORO: Mary Hamrick Boyer, 78, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her loving family on June 4, 2022. Born in Cleveland County on September 14, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Garland Gibbs and Pauline Pearson Hamrick. In Mary’s early adult life she worked many years for PPG and Fiber Industries before embarking on a 25 year adventure to California. While in California, she started a career with Nordstrom Department Store and met many lifetime friends. She returned to her hometown of Shelby in 2003 to be near family and continued her career with Nordstroms until her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eldora Whitesides. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Hope Martin and husband Troy of Mooresboro; brothers, Charles Hamrick of Mooresboro and Terry Pearson of Cherryville; sisters, Wanda Watkins of Earl and Teresa Brown and husband Tim of Charlotte; grandchildren, Brandie Blanton and fiancé Brandon Collins, James Martin and wife Brandy, Michele Walker and Katie Martin; great-grandchildren, Korey Blanton, Tatum Collins and her partner, Justin Wright, Hunter Blanton, Piper Collins, Brock Collins, Braeden Bostic, Alexis Martin, Camdyn Martin, Elizabeth Blanton and Autumn Martin; Mary’s eleventh great-grandson, Leo, is due to be born July 2022; great-great granddaughter, Adalynn Wright; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Julie Otis and Dorothy Skidmore of California and Nancy and Earl White of Rock Hill, SC. The family will receive friends 1-2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park at 2:30 PM. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the amazing staff at Atrium Health Cleveland and the caring staff at Hospice of Cleveland County.
