Mary "Lib" Mcswain

February 4, 1925 — August 12, 2011

SHELBY- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Lib” McSwain, 86, of 2340 Ben Jones Road, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Carillon Assisted Living in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late John Bunyan and Elva Barnett Jones. She was a member of Popular Springs Baptist Church and a bank teller for First National Bank for thirty-four years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother
and friend. She was an outstanding cook; she loved her flowers and gardening.


PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Alvie Jones, Carl Jones, and Carson Jones; one sister, Kathleen Harrill.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her husband of 65 years, JL “Jake” McSwain of the home; three sons, Eddie McSwain and wife Jackie of Charleston, SC, Garry McSwain and wife Freda, and Brent McSwain and wife Janet both of Shelby, six grandchildren, Dawn Durante, David McSwain, Allyson Surratt, Josh McSwain, Lauren Mattox, Ashlan McSwain; seven great grandchildren; and several special friends, Dottie Shytle, Adelaide Craver, Nadine Johnson, Ruth Hamrick.


SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 4:00 pm, Sunday at Popular Springs Baptist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:00 pm, Sunday at Popular Springs Baptist Church and other times at the home

CLERGY: Rev. Andy Oliver and Dr. Danny West will be officiating.

BURIAL: Entombment will be private for the family.
