Mary Magdalene Putnam

December 27, 1914 — July 14, 2009

SHELBY- Mrs. Mary Magdalene Wright Putnam, 94, formerly of College Avenue, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Carolina Care Center in Cherryville. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Nellie Roberts Wright. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and retired from Ora Mill. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Gay Putnam, two brothers Thurman and Hubert Wright; and a sister Evelyn W. Scism.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by two brothers Thomas “Tom” Wright and wife May of Kings Mountain, and Ralph Wright and wife Martha of Hickory; special niece and nephew Gloria Fowler and Jim Putnam; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Thursday, July 16, 2009, from 6-8pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

SERVICE: Services will be held, Friday, July 17, 2009, 2pm, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park

CLERGY: Dr. Jim Richardson will be officiating.
