Mary Sue Francis

November 18, 1915 — July 24, 2008

SHELBY- Mrs. Mary Sue Hastings Francis, 92, of 713 Dixon Street, died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. She was the daughter of the late Zero and Cleo Hastings. She retired after working at the Shelby Mill for 34 years. She was a long time member of the Lafayette Street United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Colonel Willard “Dick” Francis and their Son, James Dale Francis and his wife, Teresa Francis, her grandson, Michael Francis, and five sisters; Gracie Kaylor, Gazzie Mode, Macie Mull, Ethel McSwain, Daisy Peters, and two brothers, Fred and Ralph Hastings.
She is survived by her daughter, Nellie Whiting and her husband, Paul of Tucson, AZ; one brother, Hal Hastings of Shelby; three grandchildren, Sherry Castillo, Teri Lynn Calcutt and James David “Jimbo” Francis; five great-grandchildren, Danny Castillo, David Castillo, Carson Calcutt, Stephen Francis, Austin Francis and Teresa Francis; three great great grandchildren, Nathan Castillo, Shia Castillo, and Jonah Castillo and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, 11:00AM, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
The Family will receive friends at Clay Barnette Funeral home one hour before the Service.
Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Cemetery. A. Owen Peeler will be officiating.
