Mattie Sue Lowery

SHELBY- Mrs. Mattie Sue Beam Lowery, 86, of Pleasant Hill Church Rd., died Mon. Jan. 9, 2012 at Willow Ridge Nursing Center in Rutherfordton. A native of Cleveland Co., she was the daughter of the late Joe and Addie Barnett Beam. She was a retired school teacher and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served as a deacon and taught Sunday School for many years.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hubert and Jack Beam.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Randolph Lowery of the home; daughter, Dr. Gayla Lowery and husband Dr. Buddy Freeman of Conover; nephew, Dr. Richard Dixon and wife Meda, and their children, Andrew and Charles Dixon; two brothers, Eugene Beam of New Ellenton, SC and Wray Beam and wife Doris of Shelby; sister, Ruby Sperling and husband Glenn of Waco; sister-in-law, Madge Beam of Shelby; brother-in-law, Jack Lowery and wife Betty of New Ellenton, SC; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express grateful appreciation to the nursing staff of Willow Ridge and Hospice of Rutherford County.


SERVICES: 2pm, Thursday, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church

VISITATION: One hour prior to the service, at the church, and other times at her home.
