Melvin Frady

SHELBY: Melvin E. Frady, 66, died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Atrium Health in Charlotte. Born in Graham County, he was the son of the late L.B. and Lenora Frady Turner. Melvin was employed by Pyramid since 1993 and was a member, deacon, and Men’s Sunday school teacher at New Buffalo Baptist Church. His heart belonged to God, his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved pending time with his family and his beloved dog, Eddie. He enjoyed horses and classic cars and trucks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Keith Turner. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Kay Borders Frady of the home; son, Kenny Frady and wife Kim of Grover; step-sons, Patrick and Dereck Walker, both of Shelby; sisters, Wanda Buchanan and husband E.J. of TN and Gail Keel of Greenville, SC; brothers, Jesse Turner and Anthony Turner, both of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Isabella, Garrett and Easton Walker; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at New Buffalo Baptist Church, with the Rev. Adam Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Buffalo Baptist Church, Children’s Ministry. Face mask are requested.
