Melvin Lancaster

SHELBY- Mr. Melvin T. Lancaster, 74, of 1117 Southern Springs Road, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, October 17, 2012. A native of Cleveland County, he was born April 14, 1938, son of the late George and Kathleen Hamrick Lancaster. He was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Louise Ward Lancaster of the home; one son, Curtis Lancaster and wife Debbie; one daughter, Wanda Lancaster and life partner Cheryl Smith; two sisters, Margaret and Evelyn; three brothers, Weldon, William, and Dan; one granddaughter, Tina Lancaster; a special brother-in-law, Donald Ward and wife Joyce; and his trusted companion and friend “Buddy”.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel of Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

CLERGY: Bro. Gene Lancaster will be officiating

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
