SHELBY- Mrs. Mettie Irene Cooper Page, 86, of 118 Broad Street, died Saturday, February 07, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Starling and Hattie Branch Cooper. She retired from the textile industry and was a member of Shelby New Bethel Church. She was affectionately know as “Granny” to all who knew her.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton “Allie” Page; and two sisters.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her four sons, Wayne Page of Georgetown, SC, Steve “Rabbit’ Page and his wife Kaye of Shelby, Bruce Page and his wife Brenda of Shelby, and Randy Page and his wife Karen of Boiling Springs; two daughters, Connie Williams and her husband Don, and Ann Williams and her husband Arnold all of Shelby; four sisters, Flossie Reagans of SC, Frances Hamrick of Kings Mountain, Mary Laughter of New House, and Becky Ledford of Casar; brother J.Y. Hamrick of SC; 20 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Monday, February 9, 2009 from 6-8 pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Shelby New Bethel Church, the body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
