Mike Shull

June 24, 1945 — June 21, 2007

SHELBY- Mr. Michael Eugene “Mike” Shull, 61, of 3050 Sting Ray Dr., went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Rutherford Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of Jean McArthur Richards of Boiling Springs and the late William Shull. He owned the Village Pantry convenience store. Mr. Shull attended Cornerstone Baptist Church and was a former member of Shelby Free Will Baptist Church. He served in the Navy and was a life member of the Shelby AM Vets and the Shelby DAV. Mr. Shull was also a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge No. 202.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Edna Whitaker.

SURVIVORS: In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Paulette Whitaker Shull of the home; three sons, Mark Beaver and wife, Sharon, and Vincent Shull, all of Shelby and Jonathan Newton of the home; a daughter, Krystal Earls and husband, Bobby of Shelby; three sisters, Janice Wright and friend, Doug Van Briesen of Wrightsville Beach, Gloria Shull and Annette McCarver, both of Shelby; four brothers, David Ledford and wife, Pam of Gastonia, Gerald Richards and wife, Susan and Dennis Shull and wife, Melanie, all of Shelby, and Johnny Richards and wife, Brenda of Boiling Springs; six grandchildren, Drake Shull, Amanda, Emily, and Mikey Beaver, Kasey Harrill and Kylee Earls; a great grandchild, father-in-law, Paul Whitaker of Forest City, and special friends Adelle Hopper and Kilgo Addison both of Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Saturday, June 23, 2007 from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.

FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Shelby Free Will Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mike Carper and Bo Wagner officiating.

LIE-IN-STATE: The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

BURIAL: Interment will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
