EARL- Mr. Morris Willie Runyan, 93, of 2822 Bettis Rd., died Monday, November 2, 2009 at home. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Jerry and Phosie Cooper Runyan. He served in the Army during WWII, and retired from the State Highway Department. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, the VFW, and the American Legion. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and his beloved cats, Blackie and Tiger.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, J.C., Joe, and Bill Runyan; and three sisters, Queen Simmons, Grace Lyerly, and Betty Falls.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Foster Runyan, of the home; three sons, Joe Runyan and wife, Brenda, of Huntersville, Bobby Runyan of Grover and Marty Runyan of Concord; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at New Hope Baptist Church.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
OFFICIATING CLERGY: The Rev. Russ Bradley will officiate.
