Norman Lee Johnston

SHELBY — Norman Johnston, 68, went to be with his Lord Monday, May 14, 2018 at his residence.
He was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, to the late Oscar and Lucille Eggelston Johnston.
Norman was many things including a missionary, pastor, teacher, mentor, friend and confidant. He loved to camp and was a world traveler that led him to be a collector of many things. He was always learning and a true jack of all trades. Most of all he was a treasured husband and devoted father, an eternal optimist and a faithful companion and comforter to all. He was Joy’s sweetheart and best friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother; Warren Johnston; and sister, Elaine Lucas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Joy Buterbaugh Johnston, of the home; sons, Seth Johnston of Butner, NC and Ben Johnston of Greensburg, PA.; daughters, Ahna Johnston of Belle Vernon, PA. and Rebecca Harr and husband Robert of Greensburg, PA; grandchildren, Laura, Bryan, Grant, Jordan, Olivia and Jake; and his special Ambassador Baptist College and world wide mission family.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at Ambassador Baptist College in the auditorium with Pastor John Uit de Flesch officiating.
Burial will be held at Union Cemetery in McConnellsburg, PA.
Memorials may be made to Ambassador Baptist College, 101 Stockton St, Shelby, NC 28150.
