SHELBY- Mrs. Ora Mae Mock Sweatmon, 88, of 1301 W. Dixon Blvd., died at home, Friday, September 17, 2010. A native of Cleveland county, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Hoyle and Cordie Peeler Willis. Mrs. Sweatmon was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church. She was valedictorian at Belwood High school, class of 1939 and graduated nursing school in 1944. She was a devoted and caring nurse in Cleveland County. Ola loved traveling, and working in her yard.
PRECEDED- In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by first husband W.T. Mock; second husband Albert Sweatmon; her brother, Ira Willis, and sister Mary Lizzie Willis Crowe.
SURVIVED: she is survived by her daughter Jeri Mock Wheat of Gaffney; sister in law Ethel Willis of Casar; two brothers Edward Hoyle Willis and wife Margaret of Shelby and J.C. Willis and wife Elsie of Belwood; two grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and 3 devoted caregivers, Amy Palmer, Dorothy Black, and Shelia Shade.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 17, 2010, 3pm, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
