Orville Clyde King, III, known as “Chip”, age 56 passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 near Shelby, North Carolina in a trucking accident. Chip was born March 12, 1962 in Lubbock, Texas. His father, Orville Clyde King, Jr. precedes him in death. Chip lived in several states growing up and developed a great love of traveling. Eventually he would become a long-haul truck driver. Chip never knew a stranger; he loved his friends and family and spending time with them. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara King Buck (Phil) of St. Augustine, FL; sister, Kelly King Heflin of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Don G. King (Emily) of Griffin, Georgia; six nieces and nephews, Kate Pearce (Kevin), Libby Curran (Kevin) Max Heflin (Sarah), Graham King, Mackenzie King, and Madison King; three great nieces and nephews. We will all miss his hearty laugh and big hugs.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury. Flowers are welcome, or you may choose to make a donation to the American Red Cross in honor of Chip, as he was delivering water and supplies to hurricane victims at the time of his accident.
