BOILING SPRINGS, NC- Mrs. Patricia K. Westbrook, 81, died on December 21, 2007 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center from complications of Parkinsonism from which she had been suffering for over a decade. She was born May 26, 1926, to Alfred and Evadna Kinney, of Cleveland, Ohio.
Pat earned a nursing degree through the Cadet Nursing Program and graduated from the Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. She first worked as a Registered Nurse in the field of public health in Cleveland Ohio. She later put her nursing career on hold to raise her three sons.
In 1977, Pat resumed her nursing career, serving in home health care in Anderson and Morgan Counties of East Tennessee. She particularly enjoyed being of service to others.
Pat was a devoted church member, serving in many aspects of church fellowship including youth ministries, Bible studies, and prayer groups. She lived her faith.
Pat enjoyed gourmet cooking, sewing, and gardening. She played high school basketball and clarinet in the marching band. She also loved outdoor activities, ranging from Girl Scouts as a child, to hiking, boating, and camping with her family, and running in races up to 10k.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Westbrook.
SURVIVORS: Pat is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Russell Westbrook of Boiling Springs, NC; sons, Richard Westbrook and wife Della, of Memphis, Tenn., and Paul Westbrook and wife Margaret and their two sons David and Matthew, of Boiling Springs, NC; sister, Karen Woods and her husband Jim, of Venice, Fla.; and brother, Fred Kinney of Morristown, Tenn.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.
FUNERAL: A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Shelby.
