Patsy Childers

KINGS MOUNTAIN- Patsy “Pat” Childers, 72, died Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. A native of Cherokee Co., she was born to the late Ernest and Emmaline Grooms Scoggins. She enjoyed gardening, painting and was an active member of the Southern Arts Society in Kings Mountain. She also served on numerous committees at City Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, James Childers; sister Sarah Bolin; brothers Harold, Jimmy, Ernest, William and Joe Scoggins; son-in-law Chuck Spearman; and grandson Rusty McAbee. She is survived by her daughters Teresa Childers and husband Tony of Kings Mountain, Emily Spearman of Seneca, SC, step daughter Terri Broome and husband Harley of Kings Mountain, stepson James “Chip” Childers and wife Laura of Kings Mountain; brothers Johnny Scoggins and wife Wilma Ann of York, SC and Ronnie Scoggins and wife Fay of Sharon, SC; sister-in-law Joy Ann Scoggins of Kings Mountain ; grandchildren Morgan Caddell and husband John, Jordan Childers, Reagan Childers, Jonathan Spearman and wife Jessica, Jacob Spearman, Montez Spearman; Melissa Simon and husband David, Meghann Stanley and husband Drew and Andrew Childers and wife Casey; great grandchildren Scout, Jackson and Seanna; numerous nieces and nephews and her fur baby Elf. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, February 18, 2019 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain. Rev. Greg Neely, officiating.
