Peggy Allen

March 7, 1932 — February 14, 2022

SHELBY: Peggy Blanton Allen, 89, died Monday, February 14, 2022 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Betty Biggerstaff Blanton. Peggy was a member of Zoar Baptist Church,where she was active in WMU and played the piano for many years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and tending to her flowers. She loved to bake for others and spending time with her family. She retired from Shelby High School cafeteria. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Gene Allen; sisters, Frances Beam and Mildred Borders; and brother, Gene B. Blanton. She is survived by her son, Don Allen and wife Glenda; daughter, Lynn Plummer and husband Jim, both of Shelby; grandchildren, Beth Canipe and husband Chris, Brian Plummer and wife Heather, Amanda Masters and husband Brian, and BriAnne Hamrick and husband Justin; great grandchildren, Payton, Logan, Gavin, Nicholas, Chance, Lily and Karaleigh. Funeral services for Peggy will be held 4:00PM, Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. John Ware officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Cleveland Memorial Park.
