Phyllis Dobbins Chitwood

SHELBY: Phyllis Chitwood, 70, died Friday, January 18, 2019 at Atrium Health Shelby. A native of Cleveland Co., she was born to the late Roy and Margaret Hill Dobbins. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, former member of the North Carolina Mental Health Consumers Organization and the Cleveland County Consumers Organization. She was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School, Cleveland Community College with a degree in Pre-Liberal Arts and Gardner-Webb with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Mark Chitwood. She is survived by her son Ralph James “Jamie” Chitwood and daughter Kimberly Margaret Andrus; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the chapel of Clay-Barnette. The family will receive friends after the service. Rev.
