Phyllis Wheat

ELLENBORO-Phyllis Holt Wheat, 76, died at her residence Sunday, July 23, 2017. She was born in Greenville, Tennessee, to the late Theodore and Mary Smeltzer Holt. She was an avid quilter and loved cooking. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She loved her kids, grandchildren, and her church family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ronald Wheat.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Wheat and wife Kim of Rutherfordton and Carl Wheat of Ellenboro; daughter Teresa Greene and husband Jerry of Ellenboro; grandchildren, Adam, Joseph, Jill, Chrissy, Tricia, Savannah, Michael, Carla, Julia and Jayson; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Louise Holt; and nieces Debbie Profeta and Mary Sullivan of Winston-Salem.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Bo Wagner.

Internment will immediately follow the service at Southern Baptist Church Cemetery.
