SHELBY- Pauline “Polly” Inman Matthews, 89, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at Carolinas HealthCare System-Cleveland.
A native of Surry County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Bessie Inman of Surry County. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a homemaker, caregiver, a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and a community volunteer.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harry Mayo Matthews.
She is survived by four daughters, Paula M. King of Shelby, Denise M. and Mike Poole of Brevard, Dawn M. and Irvin Anthony of Shelby, and Melanie M. and Milton Clark of Chatsworth, Georgia.; eight grandchildren, Shawn King Lockridge of Kings Mountain, Ashley Poole Falls of Shelby, Morgan Hord Parker of Chatsworth, Georgia, Kasey Poole Decosimo of Durham, Tyler Hord of Dalton, Georgia, Tony Anthony of Boone, Keely Anthony Sisco of Sugar Mountain and Natalie Anthony of Portland, Oregon; 12 Great Grandchildren; one brother Curt Inman of Pilot Mountain; and beloved sister, friend and neighbor Kitty Cook.
