SHELBY: Michael “Randy” Derrick, 76, died Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Atrium Health Cleveland. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Lawrence Derrick and Annabelle Wood Martin. Randy retired from Beam Construction in 2006, with 39 years of service. He was skilled at almost anything pertaining to building. He was a faithful member of Lily Memorial Baptist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and being an active member of the men’s bible study Sunday school class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joey Ledbetter; brother, Jerry Derrick; and sister, Gerri Porter. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Joyce Mull Derrick of the home; son, Jeff Ledbetter and wife Tracy of Shelby; sister, Rachel Karen Fox of Shelby; brothers, Richard “Benny” Martin and wife Trudy and Danny Martin and wife Norma, both of Shelby; grandchildren, Hunter Ledbetter of Gastonia and Dalton Ledbetter of Shelby. A graveside service will be held 11am, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Aubrey Folk officiating. A visitation will be held 9:30-10:30am, prior to the graveside service, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. Face masks are recommended. Memorials may be made to Lily Memorial Baptist Church, 406 Whitner St., Shelby, NC. 28152
