SHELBY- Mrs. Ray McIntyre Wright Whitaker, 95, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord, Monday morning, July 26, 2010. Daughter of the late Broaddie V. and Mary Hardin McIntyre, she was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Aldersgate Girl Scout Troop # 356 Scout Leader, Foothills Quilting Guild, American Business Women’s Association, which named her “woman of the year” in 1978, and other church and civic organizations.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands Clyde T. Wright and Frank Whitaker; three brothers Frank, Dewey, and Blaine McIntyre; and sister Thelma McIntyre Gold.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her four sisters, Madge Turner, Helen Ervin Ellis, Jackie Greene, all of Shelby, and Margaret Brumley of Gastonia; brother, Gus McIntyre and wife Betty of Shelby; numerous loving nieces and nephews; and two special care givers, Sandra Bolin and Janice Huskey.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends, Thursday, 10-11am, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

SERVICES: Services will be held, Thursday, 11am, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Cemetery.

MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1207 West Dixon Blvd, Shelby, 28152.

CLERGY: Revs. Katie Roberts, Heyward Morrison, and Elizabeth Minus will be officiating.

FUNERAL HOME: Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.
