Raymond Hamrick

SHELBY: Raymond Carlton Hamrick, 62, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Herman and Lois Allen Hamrick. Raymond joined the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department in 1975, and served as Sheriff from 2002-2010. He was proud to have started the chaplain’s ministry within the department. Raymond was a believer, enjoyed singing and playing is guitar, and was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Hamrick.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Jenkins Hamrick, of the home; sons, Justen Hamrick and wife Marcie, Jarrod Hamrick and wife Tabitha, all of Shelby, and Lee Etters and wife Hali of Kings Mountain; daughter, Polly Kageorge and husband Jason of Charlotte; sister, Sandra Johnson and husband James of Shallotte; brothers, Dennis Hamrick and wife Pat, Michael Hamrick and wife Vanda, and Scott Hamrick and wife Sheila, all of Shelby; grandchildren, Carlie, Kelsey, C.J., Lexi, and Madelyn; many nieces and nephews; and his canine companions, Copper and Penny.

FUNERAL SERVICES: A service to celebrate Raymond’s life will be held 2pm, Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service, in the fellowship hall.

OFFICIATING: Rev. Tim Trexler will officiate

BURIAL: A private family burial will be held in the church cemetery
