SHELBY- Mrs. Rebecca Farmer Peay, 88, of 5109 Ridge Street, passed away, Monday, December 10, 2012 at Wendover Hospice. A native of Calhoun County, Alabama, she was born February 12, 1924, daughter of the late Edwin Coleman and Willie Belle McLeod Farmer. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, and was very family oriented.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Parker Peay; one sister and two brothers.

SURVIVED: She is survived by two sons, William Coleman Peay and wife Shirley of Shelby, and Mark Parker Peay and wife Penny of Chesterfield, VA; one daughter, Frances Hanzak and husband Gary of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Tonya Raines, Billy Peay, LeAnne Putnam, Heather Herring, Sydney Peay and Savanna Peay; six great grandchildren, Ryan and Samatha Worley, Avery and Gracie Burleson, Austin and Layla Putnam; one great great grandchild, Lilly-Ann Worley.

SERVICES: A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, 2:00 pm at Grace Covenant Church of God in Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends after the service at the church and other times at the home.

CLERGY: Rev. Micky Pruitt

BURIAL: Burial will be at a later date

MEMORIALS: Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
