Lester Jackson

KINGS MOUNTAIN: Rev. Dr. Lester William Jackson, 82, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Caromont Health in Gastonia. A native of Cleveland county, he was the son of the late W.H. and Ada McClain Jackson. Dr. Jackson was the current pastor of New Zion Baptist Church in Henrietta, where he has served for the past 40 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee Jackson; and son, Leslie Franklin Herndon. He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Jackson Curry, Gale Jackson, and Diane Surratt, all of Kings Mountain and Pam Jackson of Charlotte; grandchildren, Robert Curry Jr, Nicholas Curry and wife Teenna, Shawana Jackson Adams and husband Johnny, Karl “KB” Burch, Johnny Surratt, Darrin Surratt, Julian Williams and Constance Williams; and 12 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1:00PM, Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Ellis Chapel with the Rev. Norman Aiken and Rev. Ray Lockhart officiating. Quiet hour will be held one hour prior to the service, in the chapel. Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain.
