Reed Jones

SHELBY — The Rev. J. Reed Jones, 72, of 702 Hamrick Street, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

A native of Fentress County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Roy and Stella Terry Jones. Reed was a pastor for 44 years in seven different churches, currently pastor of New Bethel Church of Shelby. He had a great love for his church family and his friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Ronnie Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Wanda Robinson Jones of the home; a son, Danny Jones; two daughters, Rhoda Wainwright and husband, Wayne, and Jeanetta Skinner and husband, Daniel, all of Starke, Fla.; three sisters, Wanda Howard of Jamestown, Tenn., Betty Reagan and husband, Will, of Mt. Morris, Ill., and Darlene Gentry and husband, Russ, of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; four brothers, Royal Jones and wife, Joyce, of Ormond Beach, Fla., Rudy Jones and wife, Darlene, of Nashville, Tenn., Roger Jones and wife, Dorothy, of Starke, Fla., and Fred Jones and wife, Jackie, of Jonesville, Va..; four grandchildren, Kenneth Wainwright and wife, Kim, of Starke, Fla., Kristen Quinones and husband, Peter, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Tarah Jones and husband, Sam, of Williamsburg, Va., and Daina Skinner of Starke, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Carson and Kencie Wainwright, all of Starke, Fla.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 10, 6 to 8 p.m., at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Shelby.

Funeral: Friday, Dec. 11, 11 a.m., New Bethel Church of Shelby; The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Burial: A private family burial will be held in Florida.
