Rick Baker

SHELBY: Ricki “Rick” Andrew Baker, 65, passed away peacefully, at his home, surrounded by family on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017. He was born in Dixon, Illinois, Nov. 18, 1951, to the late George Hartwell Baker, Jr. and Dodo Clark Williams Baker. He graduated from Corbin High School in Corbin, KY. He loved the woods of Kentucky, hunting, fishing, canoeing, collecting rocks and artifacts, and playing drums. He attended Western Carolina University, where he met his soul mate. He retired after 30 years from Harris-Teeter Supermarkets.


SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Peggy Edwards Baker; sons, George Andrew “Drew” Baker and James Dylan Baker and wife Lindsey. He was “Gramps” to four grandchildren; Weston Andrew, Nolan Zane, Julia Marie and Alfred James “A.J.” Baker, all of Shelby. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Levine Cancer Center and Hospice of Cleveland County for their excellent care and support.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 5th, from 2-3pm, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home
