SHELBY- Richard “Rick” Cummings, 66, died Sunday, June 9, 2017, at Carolinas HealthCare System-Pineville.
He was born in Arlington County, Va., and is the son of Margaret “Peggy” Cummings, of Bel Air, Md., and the late Allen Cummings. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, RA leader and Sunday school teacher. He worked at Polygram for 23 years and retired from Meridian Yarns. He was a Christian man who loved his Lord and granddaughters.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nicki Cummings; and sister, Debbie Miller.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cathy Cummings, of the home; sons, Brad Cummings and Corey Cummings, both of Shelby; daughter Jenni Stallings and husband Drew of Shelby; sister Terry Cummings of Mississippi; brothers Les Cummings and wife Daryl of Leesburg, Va., and Mike Cummings and wife Sandy of Hagerstown, Md.; grandchildren Paisley Stallings and Thea Cummings; brother-in-law Howard Miller of Belair, Md.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Zoar Baptist Church with Dr. Rob Helton officiating
Internment will be at Cleveland Memorial Park, immediately following the service.
