Robert Horton

KINGS MOUNTAIN- Robert Richard Horton, 78, 712 Meadowbrook Road, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Carolinas Healthcare System-Cleveland. A native of Gaston county, he was the son of the late David and Edna Greene Horton. He retired from the United States Military serving 20 years in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed North Carolina Tarheels Basketball and Jeff Gordon Racing.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Dean Horton; one sister, Mildred Conard.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Leming Horton of the home; two daughters, Carol Horton Borders and husband Tim of Blacksburg, SC, Elaine Horton Sayers and husband Mike of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Helen Farmer of Belmont, Rachel Lewis and husband Bob of Dallas, Betty McCoy of Mt. Holly, Sara Conroy of Belmont; four grandchildren, Haley Borders, Blake Sayers, Lindsey Borders Black, Andy Borders; four great grandchildren, Hadonn Pruett, Tytonn Patterson, Bentlee Black, Milynn Judd.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain.

A funeral service will be held, 2 p.m. Saturday, in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain, with the Rev. Mike Chambers officiating.

Burial will immediately follow in Mountain Rest with Military Honors.
