KINGS MOUNTAIN- Mr. Robert Woodrow Philbeck, 79, of 227 Jim Patterson Rd., died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Millard Philbeck and Mamie Ola Pruett Philbeck. He retired from F.M.C. in Bessemer City and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and attended Clearview Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Philbeck served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War Conflict.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Kay Philbeck, and two sisters, Pauline Moore and Ethel Daves.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Christine Philbeck, of the home; three sons, Robert Lee Philbeck of SC, Bobby Dale Philbeck of the home, and Joey Alexander Philbeck and wife, Lisa, of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Sunny Gale Riffle and husband, Thomas, of SC, and Kathy Ann Edwards and husband, Nathan, of SC; two sisters, Lorene Warren and Louise Terry, both of Shelby; three brothers, Eugene Philbeck of Waco, and Kenneth Philbeck and William Philbeck, both of Shelby; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
BURIAL: Burial with military honors will follow in the Philbeck Family Cemetery.
