Robert Reynolds

May 23, 1927 — February 13, 2016

SHELBY- Robert “Coach” Reynolds, 88, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Four Seasons Hospice in Flat Rock, NC. A native of Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late James Arthur and Bay Ivers Hedstrom Reynolds. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and he was a 1949 Graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. From 1963 until his retirement, he was Coach Reynolds for football, basketball and wrestling at Shelby High School.


PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, J.A. Reynolds, Jr., and William D. Reynolds.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his beautiful wife of 65 years, Katherine Lewis Reynolds of the home; one son, Robby Reynolds and wife Janet of Shelby; one daughter, Katherine Reynolds of Chapel Hill, NC; one sister, Dorothy Rosser of Charlotte; and a sister-in-law, Marianne Weathers Reynolds of Raleigh; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

SERVICES: A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with a visitation afterwards as attendees leave the service.

CLERGY: Rev. Sylvia Wilhelm and Rev. Hayward Morrison

BURIAL: will be private for the family only before the service at Sunset Cemetery

MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Aldersgate U.M.C, 1207 W Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC 28152
