Robert Thrift

KINGS MOUNTAIN: Robert D. Thrift, 65, died Monday, February 20, 2023 at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of Geneva Wiggins Thrift of Kings Mountain and the late William “W.C.” Thrift. Robert loved to work and he owned and operated Robert’s Backhoe Service for many years. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Canipe Thrift; brother, Harold Thrift; and sister, Gail Hooks. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sisters, Joyce Sanford of Kings Mountain and Carolyn Withers and husband Ron of Gastonia; step-son, Jeremy Parker; and many other extended family. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M., Thursday, February 24, 2023 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel in Kings Mountain with Pastor Keith Martin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
