Rosanne Surrett

KINGS MOUNTAIN- On March 30, 2024 Rosanne Marie Surrett of Kings Mountain, NC entered into the presence of her Savior. Rosanne Marie Van Pelt was born on April 20, 1943 to Arthur and Marjorie Van Pelt of Perry, Iowa. After graduating from high school she enrolled at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, MN and graduated in 1965. On July 3, 1965 she married Charles Lee Surrett of Tulsa, OK. She served alongside her husband as a pastor’s wife as well as a college speech professor.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Arthur and Marjorie Van Pelt; and her sister Romanza Van Pelt Griffin. She is survived by: her husband, Dr. Charles Surrett; her brothers, Steven Van Pelt and John Van Pelt; her children: Bryan (Cari) Surrett of Mato Grosso, Brazil, Douglas (Kelly) Surrett of Raleigh, NC, Susan (Dwayne) Simpson of Monroe, NC, Sherry (Jeremy) Herbert of Higginsville, MO, and Lisa (Peter) Hemstead of Ocala, FL; and her grandchildren, Alyssa Surrett, Kayla Surrett, Kelsey Surrett, Sabrina Surrett, Gregory Surrett, Nicholas Surrett, Zachary Surrett, Benjamin Surrett, Lindsey Surrett Thornton, Joshua Surrett, Colten Farinelli, Chase Farinelli, Cierra Farinelli, Caden Farinelli, Alexis Herbert, Amelia Herbert, Avery Herbert, Ashlynn Herbert Kuzmic, Avalon Hemstead and George Hemstead. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4th from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church (102 Canterbury Rd, Kings Mountain, NC 28086). A Funeral service will be immediately following at 3:00 PM at the church. The burial will follow the service at Cleveland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends consider a memorial gift to Ambassador Baptist College, Lattimore, NC.
