Roy Spurling

SHELBY-Roy Edward Spurling, 83, died Tuesday, September, 14, 2021 at Hospice of Wendover Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Gaston and Lou Ella Spurling. Roy was a loving husband, father and grandfather who served his Country in the U.S Marines. Roy was a Shelby police officer from 1960-1988 until his retirement, after he retired as a police officer he worked at PPG as a security guard for 15 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Loretta Spurling; brothers, Ralph, Ellis, Earl, and Fred Spurling; and sister, Bertie Lee Tillman.
He is survived by his daughter, Mitzi Springle and husband Patrick of Angier, NC; grandchildren, Seth and Sydney; sister, Mildred Lee; brother-in-law, Phil Humphries; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 1PM, Saturday, September 18, 2021 outside of the Mausoleum in Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. John Bridges officiating.
