Ruby Biddix

SHELBY- Mrs. Ruby Whitaker Biddix, 90, of Blackhawk Dr., died Monday, January 11, 2010 at Summit Place, Kings Mountain. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late George Stowe and Lee Ola Grigg Whitaker. Mrs. Biddix retired from Belk in 1985 after 33 years where she started out as a sales clerk and worked her way up to Buyer, then she became head of The Ready to Wear Department and then finally to Wedding Consultant. She was the first woman to graduate from The Bob Bell Institute of Personal Development. She was a member of Dover Baptist Church and worked over 35 years in the Primary Department. She was also a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, 110.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Biddix; her two sisters Ostine Greene and Luna Whitaker; and three brothers Shull, Vaughn, and Howard Whitaker.

SURVIVED: She is survived by a sister Blanche Davis and husband Hoyle; sister-in-law, Louise Whitaker; ten nieces and nephews; Joe Davison and wife Marolyn, Gilda Pruitt and husband Linzy, Gary Whitaker and wife Trena, Lloyd Greene and wife Glenda, Myrna Hamrick and husband Jack, Stanley Whitaker and wife Cindy, and Elizabeth Cabaniss, all of Shelby, Carolyn Dellinger and husband William of Statesville, Phil Davis and wife Salley of Stanley, and Dr. Evans Whitaker and wife Dianne Whitaker of Anderson, SC; a special cousin Miland Grigg of Shelby; a special nephew-in-law, Hershel Bridges of Shelby; and special friends and caregivers Gary Gragg and wife Jane of Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Thursday, January 14, from 1-2 at Dover Baptist Church.

FUNERAL: Services will be held, Thursday, January 14, 2pm at Dover Baptist Church

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
