Ruby Dillingham

July 13, 1917 — May 23, 2009

PATTERSON SPRINGS- Mrs. Ruby McSwain Dillingham, 91, of 1817 S. Post Rd., died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Otis “C.O.” Bridges and Ada Harris Bridges. She was a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member and director of the choir, and served on the building committee. Mrs. Dillingham was registrar for the Patterson Springs precinct of the Cleveland County Board of Elections and she also served as a councilwoman on the Patterson Springs Town Council. She is remembered for her extensive work with the senior programs. She was a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister and was truly beloved by all.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mozell McSwain and second husband, Hugh Dillingham, Jr; a brother, J.D. Bridges; and sister, Betty Harton.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn McSwain of the home and Patty MacArthur and husband, Thomas of Shelby; a step-son, Hugh Dillingham, III of Asheville; two step-daughters, Susan Hawkins of Shelby and Nancy Dillingham of Florida; a sister, Polly B. Lackey of Shelby; four grandchildren, Cindy Brooks and John, of Boiling Springs, Angie Conklin and Dave, of Richlands, Patrick Bridges of Spartanburg and Tim Bridges and Melinda, of Louisville, KY; four great-grandchildren, Daniel Brooks, Dylan Brooks, Trinity Bridges, and Justin Bridges; nieces, Amy Hamrick and Heidi Hinchey; and special caregiver, Miranda Weathers.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 24, 2009 from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: The funeral will follow at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL: A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 25, 2009 at Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

OFFICIATING CLERGY: The Revs. Glenn Walker and Steve Waters will officiate.
