BOILING SPRINGS- Mrs. Ruby Allen Hamrick, 85, of 2024 Holly Hill Rd., died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at home. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Charles L. Allen and Jessie Dover Allen. She worked for Doran Textiles for 34 years and also worked with the Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association. Mrs. Hamrick joined Zoar Baptist Church in 1934 before then joining Boiling Springs Baptist Church in 1941, where she worked in the nursery for 17 years. Finally she joined Flint Hill Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1997.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, her husband, J.O. Hamrick, seven brothers, Herman, Deaver
Charley, Harvey, A.V., Carl Wray, and Donald Jay Allen, and two sisters, Irene Hunt and Mae Wesson preceded her in death.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by two sons, Herman Hamrick and wife, Rachel, of Shelby and Thurston Hamrick of Boiling Springs; a brother, Gene Allen and wife, Peggy, of Shelby; two sisters, Pauline Philbeck and Mary Faye Bridges and husband, Calvin “Bud”, all of Shelby; three grandchildren, Cynthia Shomaker and husband Eric, of Highlands, Raymond Hamrick and wife, Darcy of Portland, Oregon, and Cody Hamrick of Greenville, SC; and four great-grandchildren, Karaline and Harrison Shomaker of Highlands, Piper Hamrick and Luca Hamrick, both of Portland, Oregon.; and many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: The family received friends yesterday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Flint Hill Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
