SHELBY- Mr. Rufus “Buck” Tessneer, 73, of 1148 S. Dekalb St., died Monday, April 23, 2007 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Filo Whitefield Tessneer and Annie Bell Mellon Tessneer. He was retired from the City of Shelby after 40 years of service and was a member of New Camp Creek Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. Mr. Tessneer was a NASCAR fan, and enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Phillips Tessneer, his second wife, Gladys Grant Tessneer; two sisters, Essie White and Evelyn Morrison; and a brother, James Tessneer.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Seagle and husband, Richard, of Shelby, Helen Carroll and husband, Eddie, of Bessemer City and Katie Tesseneer and husband, Scott, of Kings Mountain; a brother, Buford Tessneer and wife, Willie Mae, of Fallston, seven grandchildren, Christina Stewart, Hayley Hope, Sarah Carroll, Shane Carroll, Wesley Carroll, Jessica Sanders, and Matthew Isler; and five great grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 25, 2007 from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at New Camp Creek Baptist Church.
LIE-IN-STATE: The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
